I've got a 2000 GT and I am sick of the boring old Automatic, I'm wanting a 5-speed, 6-speed is too expensive. What 5-speed would be the best for me? And if anyone could provide information on everything I will need for the swap would be awesome. Websites or just your info would be great. Thanks.

Technically your automatic transmission isn't an AOD, it's a 4L60E. We know what you meant, though 
As far as 5 speed swap... I'd say get the 5spd/pedal setup out of a wrecked 99+ GT and work with that.
In all honesty, it would be far easier to trade your car in on a 5spd similar model then to swap it over. Just my .02$.

Why don't you get a shift kit like TransGo, It really wakes up your transmission, I installed it myself when I had the 4R70W and it really made a difference and my old ride a lot more enjoyable and faster. Research for it and you will probably like it, besides it is a much cheaper alternative (it cost around $100, and is easy to install as long as you are carefull).
Right now I have a 02 GT manual, but I'm thinking about going for a 06 GT auto and then install a Shift kit, that would be a sweet ride.

I've been researching this as well. I assisted (finding parts/etc) in my 3.8L to 4.6L swap, so obviously I'll be doing this one. I'm eventually going from a 4R70w to *hopefully* the T-56 provided I find a decent deal on eBay. I have a fairly complete list of parts if needed... hmm 99 3.8L auto to 99 4.6L 6 spd...

i know how you feel..i got rid of my high 12 second 98 z28 vert automatic..(only had exhaust,lid,ram air,gears) for this 02 gt vert that probably runs 14s..but its a 5spd,i'll take a slower car aslong as its a stick..and i'll just make it faster..but the automatic in a LS1 isnt so bad,its actually fun flooring it and watching it takeoff like a bat out of hell..the ones in GTs are frickin SLUSH BOXES..its like a go-cart, like a mario kart go-cart..and its ugly

I've got a friend that has a "slush-box" and although i hate automatics his GT's automatic seems to shift and handle power just fine.

why would he regret going to a 6 spd? 
. if he plans on doing road racing or auto x then the 6 spd would be better suited since he would have more use out of the gear sets.
