Okay..........Here goes. This is a really dumb problem. :bang:

I have been having problems with lower intake gaskets for the past 5 years. I have had to replace them 3 times.

The part of the gasket around the water ports get derteriated. The gasket looks like someone has taken a hammer to it and beat it.

The ports on the back of the heads (#4, #8) look fine. Yes, i know my intake doesnt have ports there. I always end of having a drip leak either at #1 or #5.

I use felpro 1250 intake gaskets. Torque spec is 16-18lbs on lower to heads (edelbrock heads).

Intake: GT40. Heads: Edelbrock Performers

After yall install a lower, do you go back several times after the motor has been
ran and re-torque you bolts?

I am gonna try to get some pics up later.

Thanks............... :bang:

This is a simple but a question that should be asked. Did you refinish/prep your lower intake and engine block mating surfaces? Uneven surfaces will cause leaks and imprints as you described.
:stupid: Make sure old gasket material is not present. Ever seen what happens when a gasket gets left behind on an oil filter and the tech doesnt catch it? Yeah, not pretty.

Lower intake

I would get creative and start checking for warpage where it mates. Either check it yourself with someting flat or use a travel indicator or have a machine shop inspect it. I didn't read what kind it was, whether stock or not. If it was aftermarket, definetely check flatness. Also, if car was over heated or manifold pressure, whatever.

have the heads been milled extensively? if not check for straightness. if the heads have been milled too much ten the intake needs to be cut to match so there is correct sealing angles.

Okay.............

Heads havent been touched. They were purchased new, then put on the car. My motor has not gotten HOT or anything.

Would you all suggest a re-torque after the motor has been warmed up?
If so, how many times should i do this?

Pics added: Left pic is of corse the gasket. The partial left port is the water port.
The right side picture is the head. The crap around the water port may appear to be gasket junk. Its not. It is small pits.

Thank you........
