I took my 90 GT to a local mechanic here, James West Auto to be exact..... they put in my fuel pump.....

now its leaking gas everywhere..... so, i know where to get the lock ring and seal for the sending unit/fuel pump and the local dealer has the filler neck seal....

but, of course, when they did the work, i told them to not rip the filler neck boot that bolts to the body... so what did they do... they ripped the filler neck boot.....

does anyone know where i can get one, other than the junk yard? i would like a new one

i already tried 5.0 Resto.... unless i was looking in the wrong spot, they dont have one...

and just think, i was loving this car again, now, i gotta hate on a mechanic to do this crap again and i know they are going to give me sh_t about more labor

no, i mean the booth that bolts to the body around the upper portion of the filler neck, the one everyone seems to rip when they pull the tank out , they bend the neck so far that it rips it.

its baaaaack!!!

ok, seen as how that JW Auto didnt put the seal on right and it leaks gas everwhere....

not only that, now when i make a right sweeping turn , i loose fuel pressure , what the heck is that about

i have decided to do this myself.... just as my daddy taught me "if you want it done right, do it yourself"

so i am looking for a thread with a how to install the fuel pump and sending unit in a fuel tank on a 90 Mustang GT

i am particularly looking for how the pickup screen is suppose to sit in relation to the tank or fuel pump.... i was not happy getting on the highway the other day, with a half a tank of gas, and i lost fuel pressure on the on ramp then when i straightened out, it came back..

i got a feeling they bent my sending unit to, and i maybe near and empty tank

so i ordered a Fuel pump and Sending unit install kit from 50 resto and doing it myself...

anything else i need to know?

thanks for all your help

ok, i know you are all curious as to what has been happening..

with my poor 90.....

well, i will let you tell me if there is something wrong in these pictures....

now , this has all to do with the mechanic not putting the seal in right on the fuel pick up.... then i had problems with fluctuating fuel pressures...

I would have taken it back to them. Actually I would put it back together now and take it back to them. Let them discover your now bent fuel pump.

oh, i am not taking it back to them, i am taking them to the BBB , and possibly to small claims if i have to..... i will give them a chance to buy me new parts and get the tank baffel welded again, but i am doing it all myself..... if they cant do it right once, what makes you think they can do it right again....

screw that and screw them..... THERE IS NOT ONE MECHANIC IN VEGAS, THEY ARE ALL HACKS..

maybe it got bent when the installer didn't put the pump sock on correctly to line up with the factory baffle. he tried to push the assembly into the tank, wouldn't go all the way to sit flush on the tank, so he just muscled it into place.

i dunno what color pumps are these days, but the ones ive seen are silver in color or natural metal color. not gold like the one in the pic. also they normally have walbro on them, and a big W stamped on it. i also remember number were on it, one would be like GSS240 or something. the number would translate into what pump it was like 255, or 255 high pressure, or 190, ect....

sigh...

well, here is what happened, when putting in the new Walbro pump... they broke it, so they got a stock Carter pump and put that in there..... without telling me....

the owner was ver apolagetic and is refunding me my labor and buying me a new Walbro pump.....

the pick up i already have and i am having the tank baffle welded at a radiator shop.....

so , the car is down for at least another week....
