Well, as some of you know, I ordered a 2005 GT Vert a while back. Although, since the order banks aren't open on the verts, it is unofficial. However, I may have to reconsider and get a coupe due to the fact that one of my Mustangs, my 1999 GT Vert Daily Driver, got a bit impatient and decided to go for a little drive today... without me.

The emergency brake cable broke, the car rolled down a slight hill, out of the parking lot, with extreme care, managed to cross 25A (a pretty major road) without hitting any cars, gathered up some speed and smashed into the side of a parked car.

Now, about 5 minutes after I watched in super-slow motion, the unavoidable events unfolding before my eyes, I was hysterical laughing. I mean, the irony is this: The front end of my car was chipped up from highway driving and sand and salt from our glorious New York winters. I had my front end repainted no more than 3 months ago. Isn't that just too funny?

I was to far away to get to the car in time, not to mention, once it got into 25A I wasn't running into traffic to save a car. So, I watched my baby crash, face first into a Ricer! At least my car beat the crap out of that Mitsu, cause that car was totalled. My Mustang? Slight crack in the front bumper!

So maybe this is a sign from God, to just go and get a coupe.

I am sorry to hear that, that is a major bummer. But look on the bright side; there is one less ricer on the road now.

That's what I said! I'm just glad my car won the fight!

In retrospect, it is quite comical, isn't it?

Oh, my goodness ... it's horrible and funny at the same time!! I think I would have cried!! Is your car a manual? Do you not leave it in gear when you park it? Ouch ....

Wow. You lucked out man. Atleast nobody got killed and your car only got minimal damage. Man you need to keep that car always. That thing deserves to be worshipped by other Stangers. It knew exactly what kind of car to destroy. . I am glad you aren't to upset about it, I would probably cry.

Maybe it was getting jealous of the car on order!

If you are thinking about getting the coupe, just think 6 months down the road when the verts start hitting the streets. Will you want the coupe then, or would have wished you waited?

I agree! Fix it and drive it around and tell its story! Tell it we're proud of it!

I agree as well. Any car that will, on its own volition, dish out an ass-wupping to a ricer is definitely a keeper!

I'd love to see a picture. I don't suppose you had a camera handy?

Unfortunately, I didn't have a camera. So, I can't post pics of the ricer. But when I get home I will post pics of my car. There is barely any damage. It's amazing.

And, I didn't cry simply because, after all, it's a car. It can be replaced. I'm alive.

I won't go and get an 05 coupe cause I'm a vert guy. I'll wait it out. And, I'll be keeping this car too. The 05 is going to be a weekend warrior.

I think the only thing that wasn't damaged on the ricer was the fart pipe.

The ricer is not driveable, so if it's not towed in the morning, I will snap some pics of it.

You're a smarter man than I am... I was towing an 86 LX hatch's bare shell to a parts yard, on a friend's trailer. He had tied it down, not very well, and I tried to say something. He said "Don't worry about it," and I figured, OK, his insurance, not my problem.

Not two blocks from my house, one of the tiedowns snaps, and the car rolls off the trailer... I ran across six lanes of traffic to yank the E-brake BACK up into position *it had never stayed up that well* and avoided getting hit by a car.

My friend was smart enough to wait for a red light.
-------
Anyway, it's good that you're ok and the car's not damaged that bad... enjoy the 05.

Historically speaking, about $3,500 more than the Coupe.

Yes, I am sure God is very concerned with your car buying decisions!
