Silencer Removal +/-

Well I love the way my car sounds without it on there but has anyone got 100% of gains or losses? Some magazines say leave it and others say take it off.

honestly.. I can't not tell the difference between the sound before/after it has been taken off..

more opening = more air

that's what i figured..

besides.. this topic has been beaten 5 million times.. I wouldn't worry about it.

I can't tell the difference in sound especially over the exhaust.

it's really not even worth thinking about
let alone discussing

any change it does make, +/- 1 HP
is negligible due to weather, gas, blah blah blah

A little sound difference? Yes. But you have to weigh this. The little bit of air coming from the little hole in the fenderwell is cooler air but not as much. Take the silencer off or the hole air filter cover, and you are getting all sorts of hot air from under the hood. Try it all and use what works best for ya.

I did the same white stang. I heard removing it loses a lil. I just trimmed it at the other side of the fenderwell.

I removed mine and put a K&N filter in there. I ended up putting the silencer back in, because the car was idling rough. Works fine now.

Try it off and see if you like it -- thats about it. I've seen hp +/- 5, but that is up for debate. Doesn't hurt to be off so try it.

I did the same to mine, before the C&L MAF went in. Probably the best compomise to allow the best flow of air outside the engine compartment. Just a quick trick, with little or no effect. Don't expect anything over 1 HP.

mines out, and im glad i took it out. it wasnt fitting right with the BBK cold air induction... I tried to MAKE it work, and i ended up cracking the MAF (the cheap plastic housing around the airflow sensor).... so I said screw it, bought an intake (including a new METAL MAF housing), plenum, and filter (K&N) all from C&L and I couldnt be happier.... the tru-fit inlet tube ACTUALLY FITS GREAT! i couldnt believe it, something that actually works as it says it should.
