Sillplates

I know that sn65 is having problems with his sillplates and it sounds like they need to be thinner. My question is: has anyone ever found anything thicker than the aluminum foil variety that shows EVERY little poke or jab? Seems like I have to replace mine on my 68 coupe every 3 months.
Any help out there?

I dont know if they make original type sills,but my factory were a lot thinker and could be polished,not like this china anodized crap.
