Simple T-56 questions for a 2003 cobra.

I’m about to place my T-56 tranny back in my 2003 cobra. I had to drain the transmission oil in order to replace the bearing retainer. Can I pour the new transmission oil in the top of the shifter area once the tranny is in place? This will allow my to not have to have the end of the drive shaft in the back of the tranny while I put it back in the car. Also I was told over the phone by D and D performance when I was ordering a replacement bearing retainer that it takes 3.75 quarts. I would like to confirm this.

add from the top with the fill plug on the side of the trans out, done it many times with no issues.
