Sirrius or XM?

All my friends have Sirius and swear by it. I've got XM through my DirecTV, and I can never find anything to listen to. When it comes that time, I'm going to go w/ Sirius.

I got the portable Delphi XM last year and its sweet. You can use it at home and in the car. Its wireless too, so you don't have to plug it into the radio. It sends a signal through the antenna.

As you can see many people like sirius. I've never had it, so I can't say if it's good or bad, but I like my XM. There are a couple good metal/rock stations, and a couple good country stations, that's enough to keep me happy.

Thanks for the replies...Believe its Sirrius...Now which unit? I like the ones with
MP3 players... Im not very computer literate. How hard is it to download songs?

the S50 is going for dirt cheap right now, im picking one up with car and home kit for 129, but i think that offer is only for existing customers.

i have xm in the mustang and sirius in the truck(came factory with it)

i like them both but my wife likes xm the most .....suxs for her cause she never drives the mustang she thinks its too loud ...the nerve of her lol

i work at radioshack and we sell sirius. it's awesome man, last time i counted, there's over 180 stations now, 65 commercial free music. sirius has howard stern, martha stewart, it covers college football as well as nfl, nba and nascar when it starts back up. it's 12.99 a month or you can do it yearly for $120 (making it 9.99 a month). a lifetime membership is available also for i believe $500 or $600. as far as which unit, they just came out with a new line so any of the older stuff has gone way down in price. go into any radioshack, we have the older starmate replay for $59.99 with a $30 mail in rebate. "replay" is like a DVR feature for the radio. allows to you buffer up to 44 minutes of music so you can pause, rewind and fastward the live radio. like someone said early, the S50 has gone down but the biggest downfall of the S50 is while it's off it's dock, it cannot pick up on the satellite radio. the new stiletto that just came out can however. the stiletto is a little costly up front, $350, but it's going to do what you want. has 2GB of internal memory for you to store whatever mp3's you want as well as the ability to record satellite radio. the major improvement of the stiletto over the S50 is now the stiletto has an internal antenna so it can pick up the satellite radio while you're walking around with it disconnected from any sort of dock.

Thanks cenok, very informative... I went to Best Buy and looked at the S50,but left the store after asking several questions,but no one seemed to want to sell anything....They were too buisy stocking the truck shipment...I like the S50 basically for the price...

Just a quick question...do you guys get a lot of complaints/returns about the Sportster Replay?? Mine has been crapping the bed lately and it's only 8 or 9 months old. The backlighting comes and goes with potholes, it loses presets from time to time and some of the preset buttons are not lit.

Gonna be a pain to ship it in for service...just wondering if a lot of people try to return them for new ones if under the 1 year warranty??

My buddy has Sirius in the car he drives to the unit. So we listen to it a lot while on duty. My stereo is compatible for it, I just haven't been motivated to get one (along with the ipod adpater for The Stang). lol

here at my store we've never had any complaints about them. i'm sure we've had, but i can't even recall one ever being returned. you might have just gotten a bad receiver man. it's up to where ever you purchased it as far as being able to return it for a new one...radio shack has a 30 day return policy or up to 90 for certain circumstances. the 1 year warranty is through sirius so you might just have to send it off to sirius.

I have more experience with XM and love it, i have listened to sirius at work and they seem very comparable to me. From what i have listened to XM has a lot of deeper songs, like you hear a lot of artists you know but new stuff from them you have never heard. As to getting them back, i work in the roadshop and we get both back equally. My only advice is if you are getting it get a good extended warranty. I never believed that until i started working on and getting car audio back constantly for problems. If you think about it it makes sense though the extreme heat and cold, then getting bounced around while driving. My personal vote is for XM though. I think XM has many better options with its receivers, but that doesn't matter if you are just getting one that connects to your radio.
