I started my car the other day and heard an odd chatter... I noticed when I pushed my clutch in -slightly- I could make the chatter/clatter noise happen.

What does that mean? 53k miles on stock clutch and I learned to drive stick on it. It doesn't feel like it's slipping though, I floor it often in 1st/2nd and I get thrown back nicely.

Oh, it didn't do that today though...
It's only happened that one time.

Chatter:

A shaking or shuddering that is felt in the vehicle as the clutch is engaged. It usually occurs when the pressure plate first contatcs the clutch disc and stops when the clutch is fully engaged.

I didn't feel shuddering/shaking... Just audible "chatter chatter"

That's a lot of cash. Where can I get an alumninum flywheel? I checked a few Mustang stores online but none seemed to have one...

I guess I'll save up for this summer, it still bites really hard but if it's starting to go out it'll die fast the way I drive.

Jon, you can get a Either a Ford Anderson Motorsport Aluminum flywheel, Mcleod Aluminum Flywheel, or Fidanza Aluminum Flywheel.

The FAM and Mcleod are both $365. I have no idea how much the Fidanza is. I would guess anywhere from $350-$400.
