I have the Borla stinger catback w/ magnaflow catted X pipe and it sounds so good. Just the perfect sound not annoying at all. Even with just the catback it sounds really good and is definatly a LOT louder than stock. SLP in my opinion is a sloppy sounding exhaust that they havent yet mastered. Borla is a company that makes excellent products, perfect fitment and great duablilty great sounding product.

I don't know where you get that SLP isn't a muscle car sound. In fact its most compared to the actual muscle mustangs in comparable sound.

If it has an O/R pipe though, it sounds like crap.

hey, i think it sounds great, i love it. just that most guys around here consider the muscle car sound as a deep rumble, which i dont think slp has. you can call it whatever you want, i'll just say that imo, its the loudest meanest exhaust ive ever heard on a 4.6 stang, and i have it

and i agree with you, without cats it doesnt sound too good.

the loudmouth is a unique cat-back. with the stock h-pipe its loud, but i'll admit i wasnt too impressed with the overall sound. with an o/r x-pipe its way too raspy. but, throw some cats on it and its perfect. sounds like satan himself screaming "where's my dinner *****!"

its all gravy thats all im doing. ive never actually read the definition of what a muscle car is supposed to sound like, just what a lot of guys around here think.

most people that have heard my exhaust set-up arent sure what to think of it. thats why i think a lot of guys say they dont like slp. it doesnt sound like a 60's muscle car, and its different from anything they've heard on a stang. "what, you're not running flows?! " (that and the whole gm thing ) personally, i think it sounds the way a muscle car on steroids should sound imagine if i had an engine with balls to go with it

and why is it the later i stay up the more im compelled to use so many damn smilies?

I like the smoothness that a magnaflow adds to our cars, but to split the slp and borla I would look at jba which was my second choice in my search for catback. I almost wish I had got it now because I'm looking in to a prochamber to add some more b@lls to the growl. Where the jba might have started off there. Good luck.

P.S. csledd gotta love those Licence plates

Well I can tell you what a muscle car sounds like, and it's definitely not SLP . I go to the 1/8 track back home and I see a lot of old muscle cars: Chevelles, Ford Galaxy 500s, Chargers, old school Camaros, and others. I have a friend that has the SLP set up on his 01GT, and my friend and neighbor has an 89GT(500+HP) with a Pro Chamber and Mac Catback. The SLP is loud and sounds good, but the Mac has the deep muscle car rumble the thread starter was wanting.
To even further the comparison, my friend with the 01 had a Flowmaster Catback that had that deep rumble. He swithched to the SLP and now it's loud, but doesn't have the deep rumble he used to have.
So my decision is not based on what others think, but actually still being able to hear muscle cars and having friends that have different exhaust system set ups to draw a factual conclusion on
But whatever you decide to get, make it loud as hell
