SLP x-pipe fitment issues

I just recently ordered and had installed the SS SLP Catted X-pipe from americanmuscle.com. Now I dont know if it was a shipping error or this just happens in the aftermarket world but the left bolt to the header did not fit right. The guys told me it just wouldnt mate up perfectly and I had an exhaust leak. They told me to take it to a muffler shop. I took it to a dealership (my friend works there, did it for me at a cheap price) to just have them install. This just sucks cause I spent a decent amount on what I thought was the higher quality of the x-pipes but I guess all aftermarket parts have fitment issues? Oh well just wanted to rant. Im just mad I gotta spend more money now.

btw sorry for my spelling errors of there are. Im drunk, friends birthday. haha. Also it is LOW, LOW. I mean I'm lowered and inch and a half, and it hangs lower than even m sway bars. Im worried its gona get yanked off by ANY speed bump. Im bummed out about this pipe honestly.

I have been struggling with my MAC Catback. They told me it will never fit 100% right either. My left tip is lower than the right. I've had the dealer, my nephew, and a muffler shop work on it. I was mad as well, after spending $700+ on the exhaust and to have it not fit or look right.

yup i think its relatively common, my mac h pipe didnt fit right either, the guy at the muffler shop had to weld on a special fitting so it would mate right with the driver side header

i guess im the only one that can say i bought the pypes o/r xpipe and it fit perfect!! no problems with it at all no leaks no nothing.. it fit great

My old Mac offroad X pipe fit great. It took a while to get it all positioned up right, but once all was said and done, it was perfect. I did the x and catback at the same time, and left it all loose, then aligned everything once it was all up. It takes patience. The only area of concern was above my axle, where the pipes would occasionally vibrate against the frame rails.

when it comes to exhausts, you have to have everything positioned just right for it to fit right.

My SLP catted X fit perfect, but i bought it like 3 years ago so im not sure if it's SS or not. It does hand way low tho, oh well i have side exhaust anyways, so it not like it'd be a lot better if the X was higher.

My Bassani's fit perfectly and installed in an hour. I know MAC's are generally crappy in quality but I thought SLP would be a "no hassle" fit either.

yeah, SLP X's tend to hang lower than most aftermarket mid-pipes.....the only system i can complain about fitment issues is my old Bassani SS catback, fit was horrible for such an expensive catback.

My MAC o/r H install, aside from removing the stock pipe, was extremely easy, and the fit was perfect.

the problem is that aftermarket midpipes are 2.5" in diameter. The stock H is 2.25". The studs in the manifold used to secure the h-pipe have a shoulder on them that prevents the nuts from being torqued down any further. This is not an issue with the stock h-pipe, but it is with aftermarket pieces. The larger diameter tubing needs to be torqued down more to seal with the manifold ball joint, but the nuts bottom out on the shoulders before a proper seal can be created.

Some companies, like Mac, UPR and Bassani include an adapter that fits into the socket of the aftermarket piece, which allows a seal to be made just before the nuts bottom out on the stud shoulder.

Options are to get replacement studs w/o the shoulder (NAPA has them) or remove the studs which is a huge PITA and replace them with bolts.

Or, buy longtubes.

Purchased my SLP catted X earlier this year and no problems at all. The fit was great and was easy to install. The cats do hang a little low but I watch out when I drive over speed bumps. I drive very very slow over them and don't care who is behind me. Same way when entering or leaving a parking lot, some have a terrible dip to them. I haven't scrapped yet....knock on wood...Maybe you just got a Friday made one or the garage didn't know how to install them correctly. Whos knows, sorry to hear you had so much trouble

loosen the exhaust bolts, press up on the X-pipe with something, then retighten bolts.
