I was thinking of a project car and decided to go with a 5.0. SOme one told me that 94-95 were really cheap and easy to mod. But I've read and heard from various sources that the 94-95 were the worst year for mustangs because they put the 5.0 in such a small engine bay. I have a 98 Cobra and i know for a fact that they engine bay is kinda cramped. but does exhaust and intake fix all the breathing problems that you get from the cramped space? or should i look at a different car for a project?

the 4.6's look much more cramped in the engine bay than the 5.0. i have been working on my car so much the past few months i got used to how it fit in the bay, then last week i saw under the hood of a 96 cobra and i was like "whoa" that thing was jam packed in there! i think it looks that way because of the over-head camshaft(s) the the heads/valve covers just seem to be so much taller/closer to you when you look at a 4.6
id say a 5.0 fits really nicely into the 94-94 bay

if you want really cramped go for a camero or firebird...the engines are packed in there plus jammed up half way into the dashboard

There is plenty of room in my engine bay....

:rlaugh: The restriction is more in the heads and cam when it comes to cobras, when it comes to 95 Gts its in the heads and intake manifold. Intake and exhaust might get u a few ponies but nothing to write home about. 94-95s are a great project car, cheap, look good, many parts, etc. also 98 cobras might have a mighty 305hp and 95 cobras 240hp but in reality at the track most 96-98s go 14.2-13.8 and most 95 cobras go 14.20-14.5 so its not like two totally different cars, especially with the 96-98s laughable low end torque.
