small updates on stang

well last weekend upper control arm came apart while doing some spirited driving, not sure what happened, but it left me stranded on side of road needing tow home.

got it home all jacked up, i see 2 halfs of my steeda UCA. i take it all down, put it back together, have it on jackstands and put car in gear, front half of driveshaft moves, back half didnt go anywhere!

luckily i had the one piece axle exchange shaft siting here waiting to go on, installed that and my driveshaft loop.

have only had the car up to about 85 or so now, but i have no vibrations of any sort.

got quite a few parts to install before going to track, but they will be open now depending on weather.

i definitely feel the driveshaft was worth the money, real easy install, did it on jackstands with a electric impact gun to get pinion nut off. was light enough for me to hold it up while threading the bolts on myself.


still got the long tubes, catted x, anti squat brackets, upper control arm mount, to install. then get a new tune, new back tires, and i'll be all set for 12s this year.

Never heard of one coming apart like that. What happened to the stock driveshaft, I didn't really understand what you meant. Did it get bent?

the center section inbetween the two tires in the picture, you hear a clunking sound, and you can hold the one half, and spin the other half. i bet if i took off the boot i could see exactly what i messed up, but not a huge priority.

i believe the jamnuts backed off on the uca, and when i slammed second gear it was enough force to completely undo itself? i dunno, drove around a few months no problems.

Well that's no good...glad you had better parts to fix it with I have a question though, which LTs did you end up going with?

i've got kooks long tubes with catted x sitting in the downstairs room waiting to go on. unfortunately its snowing out right now hah.

going to do it up at my dads shop on a lift so its easier.

Very wise! Just as much work, but at least you are standing up while you are doing it rather on your back and trying to move your head around to see I've done it and when I do my LTs definitely going to get lift time somewhere somehow...

haha yeah i had done the rear suspension on my back, not fun.trying to adjust the UCA back to where it should be with snow on the ground but wanting to get the car back on the road really bad. i've been sick since then. oh well.

i've been tempted to start ripping into the header installation in my driveway, but if i can knock it out on a lift in a night that'd be so much better.

I know what you mean...about patience that is dont get much snow around here. As hard as it is just keep waiting, it will be worth it in the end to not be cold and numb when you first start her up and hear how she sounds
