I currently am at 11,000 miles but gettin pretty sad down here due to the fact I'm starting to smell oil after my engines warmed up. Ive treated her like a race car so I wouldn't be TOO terribly surprised if I've already fried the motor. I've changed the oil every 3000 miles and ALWAYS let her warm up before beating on it also I've been running a 100 shot dry kit with a fairly rich tune.
I thought I was screwed until one of my friends suggested that my recent switch(last oil change) to a semi synthetic race oil is the cause of the smell. He explained it to me as though the synthetic is slipping around my gaskets and i need to use a pour in "tuner" to rectify the problem. I've never heard such a thing before but I hope its true. I'm not loosing any great quantity of oil and when I check the dipstick its still clear...well a greenish brown now but definantly not black.
Anybody have ANY idea about this whole synthetic conversion idea?
