Hey, first of all I just joined these forums, I drive a Torch Red 2003 Mustang GT Convertible, which I purchased a few weeks ago.

Already I have added a MAC 85 mm Mass-Air kit and a Magnaflow Cat-Back exhaust system. In the past I have rebuilt a Chevy Corvette smallblock engine and modified a Subaru Impreza 2.5 for my friend.

My question pertains to the Magnaflow. It rocks, but I'm getting a really weird smell from it. Is this just becuase it's new and there is no carbon buildup yet, or is something wrong? Thanks a lot

I just put the catback on about 4 hours ago, so it's very new. Also, its the MAC kit where the inlet tube is widened to 85 mm, still uses the same MAF sensor. It's a great kit, goes from a new filter all the way up to the throttle body.

This would explain why.

Mmmmmmmmmmmm New cat-back smell. Give it a day or two, the newness (actual word??) will burn off. It's just the normal break-in odor you smell.
