Smog crossover question

My mustang has had the smog pump removed and the jacka@@ cut the crossover tube and pinched it off. I have read that a 5/8-11 bolt will screw into the back of the head when the blocks are removed. I need to know the details from anyone who has actually done this. Will the bolts work? How in the heck do I get the blocks off (the bolts wont budge and I cant get a torch in there.) Let me know whats up.

I just did this on a buddy's car but i don't have any idea what size the bolts were...he had a huge bucket of bolts and i lucked out and found 2 bolts that fit. I've heard that it's the same size as a spark plug...but don't quote me as i've never tried it. I've even heard of people breaking the ceramic end off of an old plug and threading it into the back of the head....but again, i've never tried it and don't know if it'll fit or work.

i think we used a freeze plug to seal the hole in mine when we removed the smog gear from my 93.
