Hi, I just bought a '93 5.0 Cobra and it won't pass smog without TONS of money, nor do I want to downgrade the car anyhow. Does anyone know a place in Orange or L.A. counties (California) that can help out? Please e-mail or private message me or post here if you're not worried about burning anybody. PLEASE HELP! I love my Cobra and me and my boyfriend are restoring it, but I don't want it to get impounded! :(

What's missing from the smog equipment? It is possible to pass, but everything has to be there. Most of the smog equipment isn't that hard to fix.

Start by inventorying the equipment to see what's there & what's missing. Repost and we can work to see that you pass.

jrichker is right.
If all emissions devices are there and working, you will pass.
If you take it to a shop it will cost you TONS of money.
What systems are faulty or removed?
Is the computer giving any codes?

I am a little confused but will try to help as much as I can.

Have you taken the emissions test yet? How did you do?

What modifications have been done to the Cobra? What changes have been made to the intake system? What changes have been made to the emissions systems? These may be tough questions if you are not sure what components should be in place for a completely stock Mustang, but they are necessary if anyone is to give advice.

The odds of the vehicle being impounded for emissions reasons are pretty slim. The worst scenario I have heard of so far is fines.

Most modifications can co-exist with the emissions equipment.

If you have to please post questions about the questions I have asked.
