ok guys, i have an issue. My car now has a short belt, which excludes the a/c and the smog pump.
My smog pump, when hooked up sounds like an extremely loud valve knocking, louder yet than my roller rockers and i want to replace it, it gives my car a bad image . Has anyone seen how much these cost?
The reason i want to hook it back up is so i can use my stock belt and have a/c again, once i recharge my system(the pump wont stay on, lack i pressure i think, i had a leak that i fixed with eletrical tape ) anyhow, i need to keep if for emmissions next year, so i just can put an idler on there. help?

You can just buy a longer belt and run the AC and leave the smog pump off. I run everything except the smog and with underdrive pulleys I use a 89.5 belt.

Ok I just had a thread about this the other day - I just had mine replaced - go to Advance, get a reman. pump (Cardone or something) for 112.88 - minus 8 bucks once you bring them the old one - The motorcraft ones are new but are like 272 at the manufacturers - a total ripoff. The cardone ones are practically new and have a lifetime warranty too. Mine had that rattling noise as well. Ran me like ....175 in labor maybe? My mechanic sucks though and I'm switching mechanics, so you can probably get it done in under an hour.
