My smog cross over tube on my heads on my 1994 gt had a big hole and was leaking exhaust into the engine bay and cabin. Took it off and plugged the holes and the vacuum lines. I just replaced the serp belt like 10k miles ago and don't really wanna buy another one. Car is near the end of it's life.

My question is is it okay for the smog pump to just spin freely till I have to replace another (shorter) belt or will it lock up prematurely? And should I cap the smog pump or leave it open? Seems like I should leave it open to pump air but wasn't sure. Thanks for any info.

Smog pump bypass pulley, used to be able to get them from most aftermarket outlets.

I have a smog bypass pulley setup if you are interested in it. The other thing is if you are not emissions inspected where you are at then just unbolt the pump and run a shorter belt.
