1-I have been progressively fixing this car, (86 2.3 N/A) and i had cut the smog pump belt so it would quit backfiring. had to put a new belt on it for state isnp. and found that if I just disconnect the vacuum hose from the little control thing behind the pump, it will stop backfiring.
the kicker is that it only would happen when i first start the car, morning, afternoon, cold start, just stopped to get gas, then restart! it would do it every time I start the car.
2-also- I have constantly high oil pressure, once ive been driving for a while it may come down a bit, but usually stays near the letter "L", (normal).
3-lastly, I recently changed my oil, and tossed in a can of Resoline compression restore, my oil level is near the max line, or just above, not by much though. but when i get on it usually in first, and some of seccond, it will blow some white, very lightly blueish smoke, i know that usually white is coolant, but i believe it to be carbon, as it smells -not burnig coolant- like. the slight blue is probably from the slight excess of oil i have. it is strange, once after i had run it to about 4750, or 5000 rpm between shifts, then i stopped the car in neutral, and patted the gas, fluctuating between 2500, and 4000 rpm, it billowed out white smoke! the coolant temp stayed the same, the oil press. stayed the same, I DONT GET IT!!!
sorry for length, but would rather keep it all in one post. thanks!
