smog pump

ive searched and found alot of smog pump topics but cant seam to find the question i'm wondering answered. I did however find this diagram which is helpful.

however in this diagram the new belt also passes the AC. I'm just wanting to bypass the smog pump and later remove it competely. Also i will be adding a set of MAC pulleys when i do this, which i dont believe affects the belt size. But anyways how would you route the belt without bypassing the AC?

Yep, that's right. Just make sure its "over" waterpump and "under" the crank, and it should always be correct.

ok thanks alot guys. any good way of figuring out what size belt? or anyone done this before?

You can use a string to ballpark it. Tape it on one of the pulleys and run it around the belt pattern. Make sure you compensate for the tensioner. Measure the string and you have a reasonable guess. It would be best to drive the car to the parts store and install the new belt there, that way you can try as many as you need until one works.

A tip from Andy (Rio) is to simply go to the parts store and keep trying belts till one fits. Saves buying 5 belts or making 25 trips to the store.

I seem to recall issues with some people bypassing just the A.I.R. pump (tensioner and belt tightness issues). Good luck.

You can also just have the belt go over the pulley on the top. I was having a hard time finding the right size, so i just skipped the top free spinning pulley.
