I posted a little while ago about gettin a mach 1 engine on ebay but I think I'll just get the headswap done. My question is this. My freakin car smokes and I think I'll need to replace my piston rings. How hard would it to be to get to the pistons with the heads off? How much would they charge if I decide to send my car to the shop and get the rings done on top of the headswap. I know I'm diggin myself an even deeper hole doing this but I got in a car wreck and the insurance will be hookin me up in about 6 months.

run a leak down and compression test on the cyclinders... how much smoke? does it increase when you give it gas? Does it smoke even at idle? cup your hand on the tail pipe and smell your hand, what does it smell like? how much is the oil level going down?

I change my oil every 3500 to 4000 miles and its ususally down about a quart everytime. No smoke at idle only when it hasn't been run for a while or if I'm at a stand still and I give it gas I'll see the smoke. And its definately oil.
