Ok so i was "Testing" the stang and hit the brakes at about 90 and they faded VERY fast and actually couldnt make my turn and had to go down the road to turn around. So i got new rotors,hoses,and brakes. Put it all together and the brakes fade very fast, within about 2 sec when you stand on the brakes and they smoke BAD. Also if i slam on the brakes it wont even lock them up.

WTF is going on???

Im trying to start to drive this thing to work and i want it to be safe.

Stock brakes? Did you bleed your fluid?


Fox brakes aren't known for their world class stopping ability, but they should be good for 1 good stop.

Stock brakes.

The brakes feel kinda weird. it goes about 1/4 pedal before there is any brakes. I bleed the brakes with a vac pump and the old way just to make sure.

With the car off, does the pedal pump up hard as a rock with no give at all?

Did you pump the breaks back up and recheck the fluids after doing all that work?

Did you use breakcleaner?

The smoke was probably from grease/breakcleaner burning of the rotors

I'm also thinking it could be a failure of the MC or prob the wheel cylinders in the rear.

If the rotors are brand new, did you follow the brake bedding procedure, or did you immediately take it up to 90MPH and slam on the brakes?

But that's not really bedding them in. The first few stops on a new set of brakes are very important

Granted, i don't think this is your problem. Like was said before...when you pump the pedal with the car off...does the pedal get rock hard?

Which brakes smoke? Front? rear? all 4? We need more info

no the pedal does not get rock hard. It gets a little stiffer but it doesnt get rock hard. It is just the front brakes.


edit: What i did when i took it for a drive is exactly what it says to on the link. I didnt know how to do it but i did exactly what they are saying to do.

So i guess sence the pedal isnt getting hard the MC has bad seals?

If the pedal isn't getting rock hard with the car off, then it suggests that either you still have air in the lines somewhere, or that the wheel cylinders, or front calipers or somewhere else is leaking.

SO, you'll have to pull the wheels off and inspect everything. Are the front calipers installed on the correct side? It's not uncommon for them to be reversed.

Pull the drums off and check to see if the wheel cylinders are leaking.

Unbolt the MC from the booster and pull it forward, does it look like it's leaking from the rear?

Are there any other areas that look like it's leaking? If everything looks dry and tight, i'd concentrate on rebleeding again before replacing the MC.
