Hi Guys,

I finally got the 65 Hi Po out of storage today. It has been there for several years. The engine was professionally rebuilt about ten years ago and driven very little since. When I fired it up, I noticed it was smoking (mostly on the driver's side). It didn't used to do that. I assume it is the rings. Is there anything (short of reringing it at this time) that can be done to stop the smoking? Possibly an additive or something.

It's probably just sticky from sitting still. Engines need to be run. You may get by running a can of sea foam thru the crank case......

Yeah, change the oil now and see how it looks after a few miles.

Thanks guys,

I was hoping the condition wasn't permanent. I will change the oil and give the Sea Foam a try.

I agree. Give it some fresh oil and drive it some and see if it gets better. My friend got a 65 fastback a few months ago that had been sitting for several years. He gave some new fluids and tune up parts and it runs great now. I bet yours will improve too.

Thanks for all the great replies. I changed the oil today and ran 1/2 a can of Sea Foam through the crankcase and the other 1/2 through the gas tank. It has improved alot already; almost no smoke.

same thing happened to mine when i started it after it had been sitting. my uncle jokingly said i was all the bugs getting burned off it. it stopped after about 15 minutes
