sn95 engine and tranny swap into fox

I aquired a 94 gt parts car and wanted to take out the engine and transmission and install it into my 88 gt. Both cars are 5.0 with t-5, but the 88 doesn't have MAF. The 88 motor is shot., thought it might be easier to drop in engine and tranny as one. Will this work or is it too big of a headache with the wiring?

Personally, I'd just keep the setup as speed-density for the sake of simplicity. You're not going to really "need" to convert to mass-air until you really start to tack on some mods like a full H/C/I swap and/or forced induction. Retain your old intake/fuel rails and bolt that onto the longblock from the '94. The T-5 should pretty much be a direct bolt-in.

Just curious, though ... why not just keep the '94 GT? Is the body trashed? Hope there's still a full set of parts to grab a five-lug swap out of it, at least...

I agree with putting your intake and fuel rail with injectors on it. IF your use your old engine wire harness it should run just fine. The T5 mounts on the same style crossmember on both cars.

If you want to get really really involved, you could swap the entire wire harness...headlights to tail lights from the 94to the 88.:hail2: You can even use the dash with some serious trimming. I am 2 months into putting a 2001 GT drivetrain and dash and suspension into my 81 notchback. I have 10 hours into just trimming and fitting the dash, but man is it cool!! It will be unbelievable when finished!!!:nice:

If you don't want to get that involved, just fix the 95 GT.

So what if the '94 is totalled? Get a little thing called a "salvage title," fix what needs fixin', and you're good to go. True, it'll hurt the car's resale value ... but if you're planning on keeping it, anyway, then what's it really going to matter?

...although, really, I'd probably rather have a modded Fox than a stock SN95, myself, so I can appreciate your motivation. :nice:
