Sn95 guys!! My fan doesn't work correctly

I have done everything I know to do. When you turn the a/c on, the fan will turn on to the low speed, other wise it will not run on by itself. When I unplug the sensor in the coolan rail, the fan turned on to the low setting then immediatly to the high speed bringing the temp down very quickly. I waited for the temp to get all the way to the A before I made the fan come on. Within a min it was all the way down the N. This car has a brand new radiator and a 160 stat in it. Please help me figure this out!

Also take the connector off and check it .... a pin was burnt on mine. Ended up ordering a connecter, ccrm and a fan!! Didn't need the fan but it was a knee jerk reaction.

How much is a ccrm? And can you replace the relays easily?

Sounds like it's the ECT sensor at fault so I'd change that first.

I just replace my fan assembly, my car was build 12/94 and after 01/95 they changed something so i couldn't find just a motor that would work with my fan, bought the hole assembly. Anyway the fan motor was shot, it would run on low but not on high unless I giggled the wires going into the housing. No more problems.

Sorry forgot to mention that also. replaced with a brand new unit. Zero change. Fan would not come on by itself.

Were any of the tests in the tech note performed?

You can also test the output voltage of the ECT to check its calibration.

No. Mainly because I have no Idea which wire is which to test. I plan on taking the ect out of the rail and putting a lighter to it to see if that makes the fan turn on.

There are easier ways to test the ECT.

The CCRM wires are numbered.

Yeah, the fact that your unplugging the ECT cycled the fan to high speed tells me that your ECT sensor is bad. They do go bad, so changing it is good preventative maintenance anyway. And much cheaper than a new CCRM. Besides, the CCRM is just a box full of relays so if you do anything else to the system and the fan kicks on, the CCRM did what it was supposed to do which is activate the fans when it is signaled to do so.

I don't think your CCRM is the problem here.
