SN95 spindles on a fox, is this required or bs?

i took my car to a shop today to get a quote on having my sn95 spindles and new brakes installed. he said i should buy some new sn95 ball joints because the 87-93 dont fit right.

they fit loose? is this a common thing or bs? i have heard people who get the baer kits and use the sn95 spindles use some type of spacers to fix a similar issue. can anyone shed some light on this?

You'll need to replace the ball joints with SN95 or use a .330" spacer on top of yours. I replaced the ball joints when I did Bullitt brakes on my '89.

ok thanks, just wanted a second input.

i think ill just get the new balljoints. he mentioned doing my friends baer brake kit, they used the spacer but it still was wrong. he said it didnt fit right still, so he ended up getting balljoints himself instead of a spacer.

I put Baer brakes on my '91 LX about a year ago and there were not any spacers needed on the ball joints. I think the FMS Cobra R brake kit (MK-2300 ?) needs a sleave between the stock Fox ball joint and nut.
I think the kit I have has some kind of modified stock spindle because I had to send my old ones back to Baer for a $300 core.
One thing I will say is that my spindle set-up would not allow the 17x8 Bullet wheels to fit on the front of my car because they would not physically seat flat without a 1/4 spacer and longer wheel studs. The center caps had to come off to and I still havn't found a solution for that. I wish someone had told me this, so make sure the wheels you have or want to use will fit. The SN95 spindles don't stick out as far I've been told.

You should not have done that. Baer modifies the stock spindle, thus you might as well run the lincoln rotors on the stock spindles if you were after wheel selection.

You can still convert to the SN95 parts but it is more $$$

i used 95 gt spindles and used the washer method it worked fine and the 17x8 bullits fit up nicely in the front.

i went ahead and bought some sn95 ball joints. i got a pretty good deal on two brand new ones.

i think the sn95 spindles are fine also. i've seen the rims i use on sn95's before so im expecting it to be ok. i have 18 inch rims also, so the 13" front rotors should clear plenty fine.

my friend just had baer's put on his and ran into some problems, it was backspace and offset related though. come to think of it, he had to buy sn95 spindles to have his installed even.
