Sniper software/programmer

Just a quick question now that I am back owning a stang again...I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with Sniper software or their programmers and what were your thoughts?

note: the new steed is a '02 blk gt 5 spd w/ blk leather and mach 460 and chrome Cobra R's :banana:
 
not from what I have seen in the adds in the usual mags....seems to be between 299-399 depending on the features you want. And I read somewhere that it will allow you to buy "bullets" so that you can use it again to burn a friends's car. But the extra burning might only apply to the palm version which I do believe goes for around 600+/-
 
I emailed them in April just wondering-

"If you have a laptop computer, our Scout software and Special Forces software
would be the way to go. The Scout is for stock or mild modifications and the
Special Forces software is for modified vehicles. The Scout sells for $295 & SF
sells for $495. Both of these products will become available April 18.
Our plug in chips will become available by April 18. They sell for $239 (single
program) or $359 (multiple program).
The Patriot ($395) and Spartan ($749) have not been released yet. The Patriot
should be mid May and the Spartan late June.

I doubt it will be different than anything else out there...excep the TwEECer is still cheaper than the lot...:)
 
nice info....thanks. well, I do have a laptop ,thank you very much work...lol, so I really like the software way of doing it. And if i do N2O then I can put it on the pass. seat and slam it closed during a race and yell "shut up" and hit the 2nd stage of spray...lol ok, back to life here. I have heard of the TwEECer but know basically nothing about it. Does it do the samething as Xcal2 and the Sniper software (gears and custom tunes on the dyno)? I want to buy one item and not out grow it when I get to the bottom of my wish list that contains a KB and forged bottom. And I will need whatever solution I decide on soon because I NEED gears.....not want...NEED!!!
 
The TwEECer in fact does more than the Xcal2/predator/any hand held tuner out there.

You can alter most every parameter in the EEC with it. It takes a little more learning than the other stuff, but is cheaper and can do ALOT more.

Go to TwEECer.com and download STKR 1.3 and the Borland Engine download. Let me know when you have them and I can email you a stock bin file for you to play with. Just let me know if you want to try it out.

Would it be possible to use the predator as a medium to transfer a tune written with tweecer software?

Transfer the current tune from the car to the predator, then to the computer, configure with tweecer software, download it back the predator, and upload it to the car.

I wouldn't think each handheld tuner would alter the computers tune data much, if at all, when it downloads it. Shouldn't be hard to emulate the file that a tweecer creates when it reads the cars tune.


Just a thought for those of us who already have a predator/xcal.
 
I'm not sure if you quite understand what the TwEECer is. If comes with a 5 position chip (4 burnable, 1 for off) as well as the software, you don't need a a handheld tuner. You can pull the cpu out of the car in about 5 minutes and take it inside and hook the TwEECer up to read the stock file. By this you don't need a laptop. You can take the TwEECer between the car and the home cpu. It might take a little longer than a hand held tuner, but just as effective. With TwEECer a laptop is a convience, not a necessity. If you desperatly wand to keep your Predator what can be done is have the TwEECer edited bin emailed to a Diablo rep to put the tune into their Chipmaster Rev stuff and then be put into the predator. After re-reading your question the bin file is interchangable, but the softwares don't mate at all (think Linux verus Windows versus Apple).

What some people do is have ther former chips read and have that bin mailed to them...good starting point on their tunes.

I hope that answered your questions. The bin file edited by all the software is the same and can be transferred between any of the software I would imagine. Software to software exchanges would be virtually impossible.

very interesting. I would really like to get that file and mess around with it. I went to their website and read about it and really like the data logging feature of the RT model. It would make it easier to DIY or atleast get it close. But the one thing I dont see listed is the ability to compinsate for new gears. Does it do this? And did you get the RT model also or the standard?

Will do when I get home. The TwEECer can do almost anything in the EEC. Honestly everything that the cpu does the TwEECer can alter. Gear ratios, rev limiter, all automatic tranny functions, full timing and fuel curves, tip-in spark, OBDII stuff, PATS, fan on/offs, et al...

I have the base model but my brother and cousin have the R/T. The best thing to help out is to have a wideband O2 to get the a/f knocked down. We use an Innovate LM-1, love it.
 
I see that you did send it. (it got caught in my company's spam filter...lol) I will be able to dnld it later on. I am in the middle of reloading my pc. But, as soon as I get that done I am going to load it and see how it looks. I will most likely make it my first mode if I like it. It will eat a big chunk of my mod $$ but I will need it for further mods in the future like the OR /X and gears and beyond. I already have a bbk CLI that pulls from the fender (was on the car when I bought it) and some crappy dynomax turbos (also on the car when I bought it). But thanks for the help so far....I will let you know when I get it loaded.

Not quite - there are a ton of tranny functions not in the Tweecer - my car, which has a lot of torque, would NOT do a 2-3 shift at WOT. The necessary parameters that needed to be changed just weren't in the software. Basic stuff is there, but not the more complicated stuff.
 
well, I just looked over the bin file you sent and was just poking around in the software. one word comes to mind..."wow". talk about overwhelming. So now it is time to go back and do what guys just are not allowed to do..."read the instructions"...lol.

There isn't really a clear set of instructions that comes with the tweecer on tuning your car. The forums are great, but sometimes can be difficult to find exactly what you are looking for. If you decide to go with the tweecer I highly recomend getting the SCT tuning manual. Some of the parameter names are a little different but they are close enough that you can understand it. Trust me it will make you life much easier when you first start tuning your car. It goes for about $80 over at modular depot.
 
Don, sorry I misspoke. It covers most of them. What scalar was the TwEECer lacking in? Just wondering, I know some of the 94-95 guys have had some auto tranny issues with STKR (fixed in the new update if I recall).

I'm wondering why Sniper is not out yet. Website hasn't been updated in a while either. Looked like they had the right price point, wonder when the actual release date is now?
