I have two of them installed so if you get hung up holler at me. Biggest thing is putting the temperature sensor in the fins of the radiator as close to the exit hose (read bottom driver side on the radiator) as you can. I used a medium sized flat tip screw driver to gently open the fins up so the sensor would slide in.

So I think I’m going to go overboard on the testing. I want to be able to test all valves. This means I gotta do the gas test. But I also like the simplicity of the water test. Since I have to do at least one, I’ll go all out on the testing. Here are the first 6 exhaust.

PSI test intake side, not so much. We will see the leaks in 50 minutes but I could blow minor bubbles in 3 of them

So I gotta ask, how “perfect” should these valves sit? I’m happy to redo all my work, but in all honesty, how “perfect” do these need to be?

Is there any issue with reusing the valve seals I just put in?

You can reuse the seals and I would think that the compression will only be as good as the valve job. Lemme see if the guy that did all the head work on my cars is up and see what he says.

So he said definitely water test them and if they leak and the lap job is good then there are three possibilities: bent valve, bad guide, or needs a valve job.

He can see it after he does a lap job but he has done a lot of valve work.

Can’t get the hydro tests to pass. Tested guides and seem to have some vacuum. Seats and clearance looks OK.

At the moment I’m back at the drawing board.

You've got a few choices here. One, send them to a machine shop and spend the $$. Two,send it the way they are. Three, spring for new heads.

I’m going to continue to go through the heads to try and get good seals. If I’m lucky will only have 1 or 2 which don’t work.

Kinda sad. I can’t do seats or guides myself. Watched a few videos on the seats and those machines are the real deal.

I think I’m in the camp to stick with the iron. I just really wanted to do the work myself. Oh well. If it was easy, everyone would be doing it, right?
