Did it months ago. Saw big MPG gains until my motor blew. Just kidding! Actually, I got 2-3 more MPG with the acetone. I used up what I had and haven't been back to Home Depot. I'm a believer though!

well after what is all been said, if RacEoHolic330 comes back with good gains in mpg im going to home depot to give it a shot. 400hp is fun but its expensive at the pump

I have a friend with a 4 cyl Mustang and claims 2+ MPG better. I'd never use it on anything that I really love.

Well. I filled up today and calculated my mpg and it was exactly 1 mph better than usual (29mpg compared to 28mpg). However, this past week I've driven much much more city miles than I ever have. Usually I'm about 70% highway/30% city. This week was more like a 50/50 split. I also sat in probably 3 hours total of stop and go traffic throughout the week. So I blame the lack of good results on my driving habits this week. I still have faith in this stuff though. I'm gonna keep doing the acetone for a few weeks so I can get a more accurate average mpg. BTW, I've also noticed that the exhaust doesn't stink as much when I start it up first thing in the morning.

I would say it works then maybe not for everyone but I am going to try it now.

Yea, might as well give it a try. From what I've seen and researched, it can't cause any harm. The only thing you can harm is your paint if you're retarded and spill the stuff all over the side of your car when putting it in the tank

Too make sure this does not damage any fuel parts, who has been doing this the longest? Obviously nobody here has had any problems yet, or we would know about it.

just put some in my tank today. put about 30 or so miles on it so far. it seems to be working but not till i run the tank down to an 1/8 (where it was when i filled up) will i know for sure but ill keep you guys posted

So did i buy the right thing? I went to autozone and bought a green can of Klean-Strip Acetone. It says fiberglass resin thinner on it, on the back it says "Kean-Strip's Acetone is 100% pure" so this is good to use right?

And how are you guys measure out ounces? Measuring cup? lol

I would use a glass measuring cup, the plastic will melt.

mines still good....gone through like 8+ tanks now.....still good mileage too. I dont think that it works as good with the gas that has like "10% ethanol" in it or whatever...Thats what I have tried twice and it gets better, but not as much gain in MPG.

as for a container, I got one of those plastic containers that has a resivoir on the top with one ounce measured on it. You squeeze one ounce in and pour...i just do this twice....its like one of those mouthwash bottles, except it had a fuel additive in it to begin with, so its holding up just fine. Just dispose of the stuff right, if it is a chemical you wont use, which I didnt...i just wanted the bottle, so I wouldnt soak the side of my car'

I use the fuel fill bottle from my nitro RC car. Go to your local hobby store and them what you need.

I've tried this in my 2000 Ranger, has the 3.0 v6, pings like a b i t c h no matter what, weak as hell, gets a whopping 19mpg w/o acetone, and 19mpg with. Somebody at Ford must have been "poundin' the pooch" when they put the 3.0 in the rangers.amnit:

Well I just filled mine up after the first experiment with acetone. Essentially exactly the same mileage I always get. Mine usually gets around 20 in town and 26 on the highway. I had a 180 miles on a tank - about 80 around town and 100 on the highway -- got 22.9 mpg - about what I would've guessed. So for me - I don't think I'll be playing with the acetone any more.

I bought a fifth of Jagermeister a few months back. It came with two shot glasses. I fill both glasses to the top. One with Jager, one with Acetone. One for the car, one for me! I just have to be careful to remember which one is for who.

I skipped right to the end of the thread so I don't know it this was covered already (sorry if it was)

All the Accetone does is help to attomize the fuel / gas mixture better so you can get a much greater amount of and & fuel into the combustion chamber. Accetone doesn't do anything else.

I'm resurrecting this thread because I did a search for acetone and emissions, but did not find anything.

I read the original link that Aaron posted in either this thread or another describing why acetone was so great, but only found a single second-hand claim of reducing HC emissions.

Has anyone seen before-and-after tailpipe tests for regular and acetone-spiked gas? If anyone can help, I promise to get another quart and report mileage results .

I also have about a quart of 100% lab-grade toluene for octane, but that was just a little hard to get.
