so here's my our new project car....

well my dad's chevelle has been battling traction problems for a long ass time simply because hes got a huge, heavy motor in a huge heavy car with 10.5 inch tires....on a good day, he'll have no probs, but over the summer its hell for him and not fun.....so since hes not gonna cut up the chevelle and tub it, he picked up a 91 formula for a steal with a great body, great black interior, and t-tops that hes gonna turn into a real monster....were gonna tub it together this winter, full tubular k-member, a-arms, coilvers, wilwood brakes, built rear, 18" wide slicks, and either the motor from the chevelle, or build a 427....either motor is gonna get alum heads and if its the chevelle motor, its gettin a bigger cam as well....heres the current beast........

should be a LOT of fun to build cause i can do a lot of teh work, and i dont have to pay a dime :nice:

Isn't that what the Formula cars look like straight from the factory? J/K ..... you should name him Gerber after baby formula, lol.

That is a nice '66. What's the power plant? I have been helping my uncle off & on with restoring his '67. I love the '66 & '67, second only to the '70. His is a Deep Coral Sea blue 396SS car with a Muncie 21 4 speed, but with a built 15:1 454 swap. Vette rallye's 11 wide. Really nice .... love those cars. Good luck with the new project!

yea we both give each other **** since hes a GM guy and always has been, and im a ford guy......the motor in the chevelle is a 502, P&P oval port heads, edelbrock performer RPM intake, holley 850 carb(a bit small), comp custom grind cam (with some nasty lope :D ), and hooker longtubes into a homemade h-hpipe with dumped flows :hail2: the car's best 10.69 at 125.8...its a beast for sure.....

vibrant- yea that front end was a surprise to me as well....i think it may be a bumper from a different model Firebird cause the regular forumas didnt have that....hes also got a different hood kinda like a ram air/cowl....i dont really know how to explain it, but the body is REALLY straight and there no dents at all!!! there ones lil 2"x2" area on the bottom of teh driver door thats rotted that hes fixing right now hence the doors and fenders missing......

You said a possible 427 ..... I don't know what you were referring to, so I say do that ..... in a smallblock form. LS7 (7.0/427 in the '06 Z06). That is one truly amazing mouse. I bet it is a bit pricey, though.

1991 Formula's and GTA Trans Am's did have that front end. Don't change a thing, like I said that style is hard to find.

the car is stripped for a few reasons....he wanted to sell the motor, all a/c stuff, smog stuff, back seats, and some stereo stuff from it at teh etown swap meet so thats part of it.....the other part is that were gonna be tubbing the car ourselves and the entire rear section needs to be down to the floor pan to do so....and the interior is gutted to weld in the 12 pt cage...the fenders are off because he didnt wanna scratch em while working on it a lot, and also to get the doors off easily, the fenders had to come off.....this car is not gettin the LS1....its most likely gettin the motor from the chevelle with AFR alum heads, bigger cam, holley HP 950 carb, and a powerglide instead of the TH400 in there now......if not theres gonna be a 427 small block in there...

The car has about 55 miles on it. I varied the power during the drive over here to help with a small break in. I am sure they will loosen up but the hp will probably not go up much.

The car is owned by Tim K the owner of Red Line Oil company. It was Purchased at Les Stamford Chevrolet and shipped from Bowling Green, Ky direct to Young Chevrolet here in Dallas for us to pick up.

We will use my own Z06 as a test car then transfer the best combination to the Redline Oil car. (notice the car is RED)

Torque MGMT is horrible. We will not be able to tune these cars for a while until the software is sent to us. It is not available at the moment.

Thanks
