Now, he had a breather filter installed on the oil filler tube, (no oil cap obviously) and had the hose that came off the throttle body removed and capped off. The hose that came off the oil filler tube is now routed to vent outside through the bottom. So, ok I figured I would replace that and put it back to like it should be, I reinstalled the oil cap and ran the hose from the filler tube to the throttle body. Well, I went out and roadtested it and WOW, I thought I blew the motor. TONS of smoke came out under hard accel though the exhaust and it actually blew the PCV out of its place. To much blow-by gasses I guess. Keep in mind the car does have a 10 PSI supercharger. I restored all the hoses like he had it and the car actually runs fine, but I am still worried.
I am now actually going to tear the engine apart and replace alot of components. JE Pistons, comp 9.0:1. 0 gap rings, Eagle rods, new bearing kit, all new bolts (main cap, crank, etc) and camshaft. both front and rear seals where leaking aswell as the pan, so ofcourse that will get fixed. Anyone have other opinions on what to look for to fix? This will be my first 5.0 I am going to tear down and rebuild.
The car came with a Powerdyne supercharger, which I think I am going to trash and replace with a Procharger or Vortech, the Powerdyne seems to be making some kind of rattle noise internally like bearings are starting to go out.
Anyone have ideas on what cam I should use with a blower aplication? I wont exceed 10 pounds of boost and if you see the link, the car is well equipped in the fuel system department, so I dont think I am going to mess with it.
This is fun though, I had the car for 3 days and already I spent over 1k on stuff for it. It had Mac off road H pipe and flowmasters which I am trashing and have all new Bassani catted X pipe and cat back comming for it, new shifter. I am waiting to tear down the engine to find out if I need to hone the block and maybe order over sized pistons and all that stuff.
Damn I love all the aftermarket stuff available for 5.0's!
Oh and btw, the car is in AWESOME shape both inside and out, tha paint outside is great! I think I got a good deal!
