Uhhh, carfax before you buy a carThat should be the only way to "decode" a vin IMO

So I decoded the VIN on my "GT"..........

Id pretty much bet on it being a GT. Just from the pics you can see the hood decal, gt side mouldings and the front bumper cover (LX's didn't have fogs or holes for them). Check the wiring on the fog lights and the switch see if it was hacked at all if not another good sign that its a Gt. What seaats are in it? They might also be of help.
It's got the GT seats with the halo head rests. It's got the switch for the foglamps. It's a GT. It just came up as an LX with my insurance company. I just thought maybe someone did to it what was done to my poor Capri. It really doesn't matter. I love the car. I just don't like being lied to. I thought I was lied to. LOL

coo. you can check for your self just go to carfax.com and enter the vin and it will tell you model of the car engine etc
YaY, it IS a GT, I'm the 6th owner, It's been in 1 wreck, and that's it. It failed emissions in '05 and nothing since. I was told it was stored for 2 or 3 years. LOL It's got 187,531 miles on the odometer.

Damn franke i really like that GT....and i typically hate even the nicest of verts...they're just not my thing but i could really see myself cruisin that.
It's a GT. Mine even came up as LX for insurance and saved me some moneys. They all come up as that because they're convertibles Franky 
Yeah, I'm not big on verts either but, I have a soft spot for the '86 GT so vert or hatch, I love them. :SNSign:

Damn, I bet my Capri is up there in miles like your Dad's. Speedometer's been broke for a long time now.
My 85 GT is the same, my insurance told me its a LX. I took the buck tag off and decoded it along with the vin number and mine is def a gt. its just wierd cause you know its a gt and then you hear someone saying "your 1985 mustang LX" cause of course your initial reaction is NO!! ITS A F'N GT!!!! lol.
