so i got in an accident today

Yup got into an accident on friday. :damnit: Some idiot lady in an SUV that looked like a small monster truck decided that the stop sign didn't apply to her. I ended up hitting her broadside, in the drivers fender. Put a small dent in her fender, but I think I bent up her suspension a little bit buy the way the tire was pointed when it was over. Of course the passanger front of my car is all cracked up. New fender, bumper cover, lights, and hood are on the short list of parts. I guess this gives me an excuse to paint the whole car, but im still pissed. Im thinking im gonna go with a small cowl hood and some smoked headlights, and stick with the lx bumper. Or I might go and drive the car into a tree a couple times before the insurance people come to look at it.

Hopefully you got a police report stating her as the cause of accident...id also try to source out witnesses. Sometimes someone clearly at fault changes there story after the fact! Sorry to hear about the accident, those are always a pain. Glad your alright

so i've come up to a hard decision with the stanger, and my plans for her. The damages from the accident got me an estimate of $1930, which means my 4cyl car with 82K miles is most likely going to be totaled. this lady's insurance is taking their sweet time, my weekly phone calls dont seem to speed things up, but when they get their act together, I will be up to a hard decision, do i take and spend the $2000 to fix a car that was in a front end collision, and end up prolly spending another $1000 before im done, and end up with a nicely painted 4cyl car with to many miles or take that cash, and save another 2 grand and put a fat down payment on a 99 or newer stanger. i think im leaning towards driving her through the nice buffalo winter, and moveing on come spring time. She rides fine, and i fixed the lights and slightly pulled out some of the damage, but I dont know if i can bring myself to spend that kind of money when it could get me a third of a way to a car thats maybe 6 years old. decisions decisions.......

You could always look for an old lady driven 2.3? There's a few out there still. I think I would have to go for a 99+ in your case.

Sorry to hear about the accident ... hope all the insurance crap works out in your favor.

I did the same thing youre thinking of. My 91 was pretty much written off (well not really, but it wasn't worth fixing it for the cost), so insead I picked up a 99 V6. IMO not as cool as the Fox ( i still like them so much more) but as a daily driver ... so much better. (3.73s, and trac loc make it a great commuter )

over $3.10 a gallon here! Suddenly, the 2.3T swap looks soooo much better then a new car. My car ended up being totaled and I got a check for $1400. not what wanted at all, but theres nothing I can really do about it. I did a little research, looked into 99+ mustangs, v6 and v8, apparently according to the posts on the boards here, both cars stock get about 20mpg , some less some a bit higher. I dont really trust those numbers, but figureing that, the v6 car is apparently a total dog, taking a crap load of money to just scrape the HP of a stock GT, and the GT is going to be on the low side of the gas mileage and high side of insurance, I'm not sure I can reason myself into buying either car. What I can definatly talk myself into, is striping down my car, and busting out some body work myself. If I do keep the car, which it is looking more and more like I will, there will be plently of body work pictures to come.

my 2003 GT gets 20mph consistantly...and i dont exactly putt around either...

i hit a deer with my 2.3T '88 LX last winter...still not done but im just ******ing up the parts i need here and there and one day it will be done...you can definitely source the various mustang classifieds, etc for the parts you need to get your pony back together

gas at one station was $3.89 a gallon today.... kinda sad when you'd be overjoyed to pay just $3 a gallon.

from the damage you said, could probably be rebuilt for ~$100 take the cash, rebuild the front sheetmetal cheap and keep driving it
