This was with his stock hood. A stock hood should not need hood pins. My stock hood is 27 years old and has never flown up. This situation was pure human error. Hood pins are best left for fiberglass hoods.

This is so random... i was pulling out of taco bell from lunch, and saw a teal 4 banger fox coming down the road with the hood just a bouncin.. i immediately thought of this thread

If I put the pin part on without the holes in the hood....maby put some ink or paint on the top of the pin so the paint would transfer on the underside of the hood....Maby that might work good and then I can just drill where the marks are from where the pins would go up through the hood.

Thats what my dad and I did to mine. We also put tape on both sides of the hood to keep the paint from cracking. Also be sure to step up in drill size, small to large. Otherwise your fiberglass will crack and it'll look like shiite.

I was thinking about investing in some good hood pins. Thanks for making up my mind quicker lol. That is sh-ity for you though at least it wasn't as bad as it could have been.

Yeah that would be a waste of time. 99% of the hood flying up problems are from aftermarket hoods, not the stock hoods.

As stated you just don't need the pins on a stock hood..they don't flex or move enough. The hood flew up because it wasn't shut correctly...sucks but pins on a stock hood... you car looks too good for that.

yeah i dont like the hood pin look...especially on foxes, plus the latch has worked just fine for the past 21 years. lol. it was purely human error.... i forgot he didnt close it all the way and the next day when i went to drive it i forgot to check.

ive been working from 11-10 everyday so i havnt had a chance to get pics, but they'll be up tomorrow. i went to see if i had any mail and looked at it, it doesnt look as bad as i remembered it from sunday...i was just really pissed off about it, which made it seem worse.
