So I thought the new fuel pump fixed the hard starting problem but I was wrong

Ive been having a problem with random hard starting where the car just turns over and nothing happens. Eventually it will start though. It would happen almost every day and many times multiple times per day. I replaced the IAC valve and battery and it didnt help.

So then I figured it may be the fuel pump so I replaced that and the fuel filter and it fixed the problem for about 2 weeks where it didn't do it at all. So I figured that must be it and was so excited until it just started doing it again. This time it smells like gas when it does it where it didn't before. Also today as I was inching forward at a light it started sputtering a little like it was going to die and I had to give it some gas to get it going again.

Any ideas of what else it could be? It seems to do it mostly when hot.

I have a friend who has been a mechanic for years do it. Would a leak cause that? Would a leak have any gas on the ground or would it evaporate too quickly. There wasnt too many places it could leak from. I watched him do it on the rack.

I was talking to some guys at work and they were thinking maybe clogged/dirty fuel injectors? He said maybe since the pump was new it has better pressure at first and pushed its way through but now its going back to the way it was. Is there a certain time/mileage that they should be cleaned?

Another thing that was suggested was an ignition module. Could this be a cause?
