alright fellas... my current auto tranny is slowly on its way out... i got someone local that im pickin one up off of for $150, cant go wrong there... it has about 130k on it and he seems to think it was rebuilt prior to him owning it...

my plans are to somewhat go through it on a some what budget... if that makes sense? LOL

Transgo shift kit is probably what im leaning towards because i hear great reviews... just i believe there are a few different ones, not sure which to go with...

also i am unsure of what size stall converter i should get... some people say edge is good...

also im thinkin of doin the clutches as well... but i am unsure as to what...

not sure whos a reliable source to go through to purchase these parts.... any suggestions and info would be awesome...

:D

ah... i think what i failed to mention was that a friend of mine, his father works @ a Technical College over here... they are actually gonna tear down this tranny and rebuild it from scratch with whatever i wanna throw in it as far as perforamnce parts... its gonna cost me a couple of pizzas or a round or two of drinks... all i gotta do is pay for the parts, the labor will be free and hell be doing a final inspection... my buddies father has been in the game for well over 20+ years...

not sure if that helps the situation a little better lol

If that's the case, they'll learn just as much from a 4r70w build. You'll get the benefit of having a trans that will handle ANYTHING you can throw at it. Pay the $$$ for a used 4r70w from a 2000+ V6 Mustang. (You might want to consider this, anyway, if you plan to make some power down the road.)
To solve the electronic issues, you can get a chip from LaSota Racing. They told me, they can do this on a mail order basis, so that's what I'm going to do. (Of course, you can buy a Tweecer to do that stuff, too.)
Have your buddies father give Don at LaSota Racing a call, or email. He'll get more info than he needs to get the job done. :nice:

I have to say that I agree with this. My bud did the j-mods on his aode, and it made it better, but it still wasn't great...

If you are going to spend the $$ spend the $$ and do it right...

If they are already rebuilding it, they can just as easily make it as strong as a 4R70W.

I'd stick with an AOD-E and just have it built as strong as a 4R70W. Fewer headaches down the road and no need for a tune to make it work with the computer.

yeah they already have the tranny, theyre gutting it as we speak... now im just looking into what im purchasing for them to throw in there... i got a few different mustang specialists making a build list for me to see what my options are...

my plans are only for my car to be somewhere in the 300s... the H/C/I setup ill be going with will put me at about 300-325 with some bolt ons here and there... down the line maybe a SC and thats it... i WANTED to tinker w/ the 4r70ws but i REALLY didnt feel like goin through a somewhat hassle... so AODE it is...
