ok, when i was pulling my tranny (T5 STD), i was kinda confused about all the electrical connections coming off.

i know which one the speedometer cable is.. the big one with the gear on it, duh

wuts the one with two little prongs right off the tranny side on drivers side about mid-tranny?

and the one up by where the shift forks are is the reverse light switch im assuming?

its got me confused because the way i see it there should only be a speedo connection and a reverse light connection.. a neutral safety switch doesnt make sense because u can start the car in gear, as long as the clutch is depressed, which is sensed by a plunger at the clutch pedal, far from the tranny itself... is there one more thing i could be missing?

The two prong switch is the back up light switch.

The one up by the shifter forks is the neutral safety switch. One of the things it does is to tell the computer the trans is in neutral. If it isn't connected or working, you can't get the computer to dump the running codes.

oooohhhhh.. that makes perfect sense

it didnt occur to me it could be a neutral safety switch that doesnt have to do with the starting circuit... gracias senor
