So much for my Saturday...F@$*%g mustang

The valve covers are about like trying to install a set of long tubes. 5 hours later and I finally finished changing the valve covers out. Stock for stock. The original ones cracked on one side, and the other got hit with something and had a hole in it. I was just driving and heard this loud thunk under the hood, and whatever it was punched a hole in that crappy plastic. The driver side one was a pain, so I just finished breaking it off. To put back on I removed the rear two cam cap bolts, and the valve cover slipped right in. THe wiring harness gets in the way of the passenger one. So after fighting all of this, the passenger one is dumping oil all over the place. When I rev I see it dripping out of the bottom rear off the valve cover. So I am screwed. The gaskets are mail order only it seems, so I have to drive around smoking and choking on oil fumes until the new set arrives. Then I have to do it all over again.

No, I put the cap bolts back in.

The one that is leaking squished in. It is probably ruined. It didn't want to fit in the rails all that good, so I ordered new gaskets. I should have done that in the first place. I thought this would simple like a 5.0. Now I know why the local shops wanted $150-200 for labor only on these damn things.

I was wondering why I was getting quotes in the 150 range for taking off two valve covers. The worst part is, I painted up my valve covers and they looked pretty. Now they look like azz. They took a beating being squeezed into that small space. That is why I am not even going to attempt headers. You might as well pull the motor out and it all in one shot. Forget a mod here and there. When the time comes, I will gowith the one shot method.
