I know you guys are tired of hearing my problems with my stang....

i posted a while back about my shift cable problems, i tried and tried but my shift cable just seemed to long. So i concluded its stretched....

So i bought a used one off ebay for 80$ I asked the guy and it worked for him and it came from a 91 mustang. So it would be the exact piece i need. So i take the old one off. and i lay it out and lay the new one out. THEY ARE THE EXACT SAME LENGTH.

I kind of tore the old one up so its useless now. I installed the new one and it did the exact same thing it used to do with the old cable. I AM LIKE WTF

When i got the car there was washers on that bracket part near the shifter. and then tonight i found there are washers on that bracket near the tranny.

So the cable was fine, the new one is the same as the old one. Its a good cable it looks fine. I removed the washers that were placed under the car. I mean why would there be washers from the factory.

So with no washers i had the Shifter in OD and i placed the tranny in OD and i tired to hook it up. The stud is not able to go in the loop on the cable. Its way off.

So i assme i dont have the right AOD or maybe not even an AOD??
The tranny pan has a Ford emblem and says "automatic overdrive"
and has "METRIC" on it also.
I also noticed that there is a harness connecter that is hanging near the tranny, actually it might be two. I forgot...

I know the the tranny isnt the original tranny, the guy before us told us.
Are there any "bolt in" autos that i could have. I think its an AOD, why would they put in another tranny.

Are there any differences in AODs to where the shift cable wouldnt work.
If it helps it has a green speedo gear.

I am getting pissed at this car again. Its not that it has its problems, every car does. It just the fact that i know my car is ghetto rigged and ****. I dont feel like i am driving a mustang anymore. I dont have fun with the car.

yea thats an aod... dunno wut aode's look like but that wouldn't work in ur car with the eec computer.

what exactly are your problems with the transmission? just shifting at 4500 might be ur valvo body or maybe a problem with ur computer.

there is no problem, i dont this the shifting at 4500 is a problem, it sounds normal to me. But i changed the cable because it THOUGHT it was stretched, I spent HOURS trying to fix it and i cannot get the tranny into low 1.

do you guys know if there are any washers involved in the shifter cable assembly??

can someone give me a DETAILED adjustment procedure??

I mean i put the shifter in OD and then i unhook and place the tranny is OD and when i go to connect it, the loop is too far from the stud, wont even go on, like the cable is too long....
Its the exact same lenghth as the old one, so its not the cable. Plus the guy said it worked for his car fine when he took it off...

ok we found the problem, since everything was ok, we concluded the little shaft thats part of the tranny lever...is twisted so the whole lever is messed, up. My dad cut the bracket so it works well now but its at such an angle it cant pull the lever into Low 1 so i cant do anything about it.

How could that lever shaft get twisted???

Sounds like your "new" cable was stretched as well.
