are you in washington? If so, i was looking at your shortblock the other day. Nice. You had to take .020 off the pistons for valve clearance?

btw-bryan just installed almost everymod in my sig a few days ago-except the gears and k&n.

I need some help & suggestions. My car has been down since May with a variety of ailments. Well, I finally see the light at the end of the tunnel (hope it's not a train) - Bryan @ TSS just shipped my new shortblock - .020" over with forged components and a GT crank. Here is a list of what I'm doing at the same time:

Windage Tray
Billet Trigger Wheel
Cobra Oil Pump
Cobra 11" Clutch/flywheel (smoking deal although the stock clutch wasn't too bad)
Team Breed Valve Covers (bling factor-don't want it looking TOO stock)

Here are some things I'm still kicking around, but funds are limited at this point:

Billet flywheel (steel or aluminum?)
Billet Oil Pump Gears
K Member (Just the K Member itself - full suspension is way too much $$$)

See the sig for other modifications. What do you think? Any suggestions or input? What would you do first? Where would you put any additional $$$? This will be a blower car in the near future.

As usual, thanks folks.

yeah-he was telling me about the rods going missing the other day....what sucks, is that some kid probably snagged the package, opened it, didnt know what the hell they were, and tossed them in the gutter.

EDIT: why the ***k does it keep putting my posts on top of yours?

Thanks. Yep, that's me - everything Bryan went through building this thing he's probably glad it's done - bad rod bolts, missing UPS packages - and in the middle of it he moves into a different place! Bryan has been great to work with - always kept me informed even when the news wasn't good!

We took .020" off the edge of the pistons for "insurance". Compression would already be around 9.5:1 and it was that or $250 for a set of Cometic .067" thick head gaskets that would have lowered the compression more than shaving the edge of the pistons.

Actually, UPS has started hiring the dyslexic for drivers - they delivered them down the street - he transposed two numbers and took them to a neighbor. Murphy's Law was in full effect on this build!

How do you like the LT's? Big difference? I'm thinkin at some point I might get a shorty o/r x pipe and LT's....

Jay

I have no idea why it's doing that, but no one is going to know what the hell this thread is about.....

hehe-my names jay too...

anyways-since i had everything put on all at once, i couldnt tell you how much sotp gains i got from just the long tubes. Everything all at once though...that DEFINITELY gave me a notch up in power...good god did it. But....the sound is awesome. Its very clean, loud, and almost no resonance at all whatsoever. The whole setup sounds evil. Ive heard some people say that the longtubes help with the resonance, and ive heard people say that it takes a lot of rasp out of the sound. What is cool though, is i can go driving around for 2 hours, and put my hand an inch from the headers, and i can feel cool, outside air. put my hand by the valve covers-and the heat is intense. Theyre ceramic coated. It DEFINITELY dropped the under-the-hood temps.

Ive yet to get to race anyone! Ive piped/revved at 3 99+ gt's, and 2 LT1 trans ams. Infact-i pulled up to a m6 97 trans am today at a stoplight. Threw a quick, evil sounding rev at him, and waited til the light. Light turned green, and the guy just eased out the clutch, didnt even try to punch it.LOL Guy was in his late teens early twenties too. And this was off the feeder road by the freeway-with noone around....
