You cant see it from a picture. Reach your hand way up there, a little to the right of the hood release and feel around. The clutch cable runs in over the top of it, so if you can find the cable, you should be able to find the quadrant. It's a bitch to remove, but the metal ones are way better than the cheap plastic stocker. It's above all the stuff in your picture.

IIRC there is 2 spring clips that hold the quadrant on. Look at your new quadrant, the stocker will be held on the same way, look at the two holes on the bottom of the new quadrant, that is how your stock one is mounted. I could however be totally wrong as I did this swap about 5 years ago.
You have to get the two clips shown in the picture out (Item #3). It's a bitch, and it'll probably take at least 45 minutes of screwing with it, but it can be done. Cram your arm up there and use a small needle nose pliers or a small flathead screwdriver and just keep trying to pop them out, you'll get lucky eventually. If you can move anything out of the way it might help, don't remember if I moved anything or not.
Oh, and I removed the front seat as suggested in the instructions, it takes a few minutes but you'll be alot more comfortable while you're messing with it. Good Luck
Although I have never done the job, I have heard the pawl (little piece that is used to adjust the cable) is the hard part to get off. If you know you are not using it again, you can break it.
You can then take the dowel pin out, I had to actually break out the old plastic crapper, but remain calm, and have a few extra R clips handy, (I lost one of mine when it flew off)
Yea that little piece would not let go for anything, a big screwdriver solved that one. I broke it into and pried it off.
Heck if anything, depressing the clutch with you hand via the clutch fork under the car is hard, no leverage makes it fun trying to get the cable to hook up.
I just imagined that I was "Ahnold" and got it to move.
