Well, my security guards at school want to race against my father and I. So.. here's the lowdown. [I'll get technical numbers once.. I can.]

My dad races down at Bremerton, [Well, he did before the overhaul, and will in a few months] with his '67 Firebird. He's redone/upgraded everything in the damned engine, and I can't remember a damned thing.

Eric, who drives an Audi TT, wants to race him. What's your bet?

So, I drive an all-stock V6. Obviously.

Dan, who drives an all-stock Hyundai Tiburon[sp?] wants to race me. Your take?

---I'll letcha know how it unfolds.

Its kind of hard to tell.

If the TTT isn't modded heavily, and your dads car has the standard chev racer modifications (big 4 barrel, dual plane manifold, mild cam and headers!) I would bet on the firebird, at least in the topend. For all I know, the TTT could be some 11 second screamer, so not sure.

As for yours, I think you'd have him. Your car weighs in at 3100 (I believe) and the tiburon weighs in around 3,000. You have 190 horse, the tib has 138 (inline 4). If it has a v6, it would be a closer match at 180hp. I think with your gears and that extra HP, you'd have it in the long run.

We don't know what engine your dad has in the Firebird. Even a minimal 2bbl 350 ran 15's, but Pontiac put an overhead cam six in the Firebird too. If your Dad's Firebird has a 400 that is modded, he should beat the Turbo. He'll need proper tires, though.

:O He's got the posi-track goin' on.

I remember him saying that he's got a "40-something" Chevy in there. I don't remember. :/

If you want remotely accurate bench racing, you're going to need to get your facts straight. If your Dad has a Chevy engine in the Firebird, it could be anything. The body of the car -the fact that it's a '67 Firebird, just tells us weight. The early TT's run high 15's; the later model ones run 14's -stock. I would recommend you race the guy at the track where you can get some bite. The 4WD TT is going to get traction on the street far better than your Dad.
