Hey,

Anyone know if the 89 Lincoln town car had a SOHC 5.0? Or if ANY 5.0 ever was SOHC? I've been searching around the net and everywhere I look it seems as if it was just the standard output (e6 heads, 50mm TB, cam, etc.) but on one site, lincolntowncar.org, they list a "5.0-SOHC" in the "functional features" part of the specifications...

Someone check me on this, but the Ford "modulars" were the only OHC engines put in the Lincolns...and after '89...first put them in the LSC sport coupe. The '89 Town Car used a 5.0L non-HO engine, much like the Crown Vics, Grand Marquis, etc.

Mike - are you sure about that year on the 4.6 motor in the town car? When did it show up in the Crown Vic? I guess I was thinking the mod didn't make the scene in anything until at least 95.

Yes, i am 100% sure on that. I have read that fact in a number of different places

I'm not sure when it came out in the mercury and ford models, but the town car got it in '91. I think the crown vic got it in '93, but that i do not know for sure.

1993 was the first year of the DOHC motor in the Mark 8. I owned a '93 model. Great motor even back in '93.
