I think I figured it out!!!

I have a class mate with a probe, which when the tank was full, no problems, but, when it got right at half full the accelaration was crappy, it acted like it wanted to cut off; all of the symptoms you have. He replaced the pump, and problem solved. Some how you need to get wiring chart to see what is connect to affect you fuel pump, sounds like short like someone said, you might want to scope your sensors just to eliminate from the list you should make! Also, check your speed sensors, that would affect it. Usally if the sensor working one minute and not the next its not going to throw a code. Hey, I just looked up your electrical system diagram, it appears that the wires for your speed sensor are Pink /Orange, in that order, and one of the wires from your anit- theft controller module is Pink /orange, that paticular wire could be shorted or just gone bad, check it out, the speed sensor wire is Grey/black, but then changes to Pink/Orange, there is a Pink/Orange dircectly from your PCM which serves as ground. Now, there is a wire from the Remote/Keyless entry module that is Pink/orange, one goes to the right door motor and the other is spliced to the Anti-theft Controller module. You have a short to ground envolving you speed sensor and your Anti-theft controller module. Please tell me if this is the problem or not.

did you recently wash your engine? could be a wet sensor.....

Try setting your steering column in different positions and drive it.

My bet it is the wiring in the column. IF the theft light wasn't coming on then I wouldn't go in that direction.

First step would be to check the condition of the battery cables, make sure they are tight and clean.


Next step would be to figure out if the ground is being opened up on the coils when the car is bucking.

Then I would see if the ground is being opened up on the fuel pump

Computer controls grounds.

I would also peform the classic wiggle test on related components.

Mine was doing the same thing a few years ago, started off randomly bucking with the theft light flashing, happening more often over about two months, then it started totally dieing with the theft light flashing. Found the ecm fuse was blowing. Lots off stuff coming off that fuse, had the whole engine bay torn apart and wires everywhere. after reading out every sensor and the wiring for shorts and not finding anything, I pulled off the whole engine harness brought it to work and broke it down. Couldnt see it with the black tape and stuff on, but one of the injector wires was chaffing and grounding out and almost burned through. Fixed the wire and made sure it would chaffe anymore, no more problems.

everything you guys said is or COULD be right but i would wager $10 of my own
as to what it is first off the fuel lines in the tank are junk they get brittle and get pin holes in them when you go around a turn could be that your losin fuel pressure because of the pinhole and the other thing is the fuel pump kick off switch in the trunk try resetting it that would be the first thing i would try
as far as you payin anyone $10 to anyone who solves the problem.....NONE of us will except your money we are all mustang nuts in here and we are here to help each other us stang guys gotta stick together its kina like a brother hood....


off topic here has anyone heard from bill fisher about his MK8 swap i know he said he got it running,,,,but i wasnt sure what he did to do it
