Do U hear a weird wine @ start up? Match starter snout to application (ie distance pinion moves to engage FW). Often manual v auto, ford families match (ie FE with Essix etc). My guidance was "measure opening in bock plate & this (one of 2 for an i6 app) = ur correct starter application" (a difference of 1/4 inch. I may have wrong 1 too. Will try'n shim later - post 13). May B not ur problem and HTH anyway~
