Some diff questions

As probobly most of you know i blew my 8" not to long ago, and nowi am going to do a 9" build up. I would like to put a detroit locker in it. Who makes good detroit lockers. I was looking at ford racing but they have no warranty. Any sugestions out there. I amtrying to save as much money as i can. What about ebay. Thankks

Honestly, getting a locker is a bad idea. I got a Detriot EZ-locker and had it professionally installed and the pos didn't work. It has been over 3 months and I still have yet to get a refund. I know you're trying to save money here (that was the same reason why I got a locker) but in the end you'll just wish that you had saved the extra and gotten a LS unit. I drove a car with a locker in it about 2 weeks ago and I have to say, it was a PITB! Lockers work differenltly then a LSD, so you have to make slight throttle adjustments, otherwise the car will pull hard one direction. You have to be carefull when braking too, cause if you brake too hard, your car will pull one way. You also have to really careful going though turns, cause if you give it too much throttle (and too much is almost nothing) then you'll end up with your a$$ end in the next lane. My advice is just save up the extra $200 (that is all) and get a really good LSD. Trust me, all the cheap lockers suck!!!

Well, Detroit makes a good Detroit Locker. Just like Eaton makes a good Eaton Posi. Maybe I don't understand your question.....

Ford Racing won't put a warranty on anything, very few hi performance parts come with a warranty. If its installed, its yours, if it breaks, its your fault. Detroit has set the standard for 40 years, if its reputation doesn't sell it nothing will. Lockers are for the strip, limited slips/posi's are for the twisties.

Actualy the limited slips are cheaper. I think detroit lockers are different then the ez lockers. Detroit lockers came in teh shelby cars witch were for street use. Basicly i want something that i dont have to rebuild every year or so and wont slip at the drag strip with slicks. Im not worried about driving a locker on teh street i drove with a mini spool for about a year so i know i can handle that, and i drive it about 5 times during the fall/winter/sping.

What is everybody else running in their 9"s.

Go with a Detroit Locker! You cant beat them. Moser engineering sells them and so does Ford Racing, Summit and Jegs

The Detroit Locker will do you just fine. Especially at the strip.

I have used one road racing for years with no problems.

Once you get used to the quirks of the Detroit Lockers, you'll be fine. There is not a better differential made...none.

Having said that... The is nothing wrong with Ford's 9" Trac-Loc. Its pretty tough and rebuildable...and perhaps most important for a mostly street driven car, a dime a dozen cheap. Check local junk yards and swap meets.

if i went with the trac loc what one should i get. I know there is at least 2 different kinds. How do you tell them appart. If i do get one, i probobly will end up getting one off of ebay, there hard to find around here.
