some info please...

Well the wife and I just sold our 97 GT to buy a 1965 coupe. The car has a 289 with an auto in it. I just want to know how hard would it be to convert her over to disk brakes...at least in the front. and how much is would cost. I am new to the classic stang world, but not to Stangs at all. thank you

I think any of the disc brake kits are a bargain. Look at it this way, I think the SSBC disc kits are about as complete as there is, as well as about as expensive as they come. Even so, they are under $1000. How much would it cost to replace the fenders, hood, headlight buckets, bumper, valance and all the brackets if you had even a minor fender-bender in your '65 because you couldn't stop? How much is your peace of mind worth? Remember your wife will be driving the car, does she understand that she should lave a little extra stopping room because of the drum brakes? Mine sure doesn't. But enough of my preaching, decent front disc kits are everywhere, and if you get OEM-style power discs from a place like SSBC, you'll still be able to use original-type 15" wheels and they come with every nut, bolt and cotter key you need.

Hotrod, the one in the stickies by discbrakeswap.com is a great bargain. That's where I got my kit...before the sale. It is complete and he is very helpful with any questions. He also responds very fast to emails. A lot less than SSBC also. I highly recommend. :nice: :nice: :nice:

thanks for the info y'all.. I cant wait to get my hands on her....i'll post pics of her in the garage with the other 2 stangs i have in there...one is a 98GT with a bad engine, I am fixing for a buddy while he is deployed. and the other is an 01 GT that a buddy is storing in there for the German winter.
