Autometer Cobalt Wideband and Trans Temp gauges + American Muscle Dual Gauge Pod.

Which looks better (besides blurryness), Wideband on top or bottom?

I was thinking Wideband on top, i just don't want too many colory lights in my face all the time.

Also the gauge pod I though replaced the stock piece - but it's about 1/2 the size and just fit in and tapes - so i guess locate it in the middle of the A-Pillar?

Hence the rice. I like the black tho, goes semi well with the stockers. And you wouldn't believe the shopping around i did. All new pieces, $242.50 shipped for wideband - $88 for trans temp, and the AM pod was 23.55 or so. Saved a good $75-$85.

- Stuff begins to go in tomorrow. Has to put in a Bung and tap/braze the trans temp sensor to the trans pan - definitly contracting that out.

Thats not rice, thats a purposful mod. I didnt want the stuff in my face up there eaither so I got the bezel that puts the gauges with the cluster. I really want a wide band so please PM me after you have had it a bit and let me know how well that one works

To answer your question I think the AF gauge should be on bottom because its more in your line of sight and its a little more important to watch IMO (at least for FI, I know you are N/A) and with it there you can see it better without taking your eyes off the road and you will get used to seeing certain readings so you will notice it faster when its reading indicates an issue.

I think the top one is actually more in view if i position the pod down low where I think I'll put it. But yeah, A/F ration actually has been pretty important lately for power and reliability. It started off WAY lean and I was running pretty hot - and the reason i got these is so I can do effective datalogs and base a tune off that.
And any autometer wideband should operate the same - so I'm sure I wont have any complaints. Let me know if you want to buy one, i know the best deal on the net.

Cobalts are the s**t man! I love mine.

You should look into the SOS Pillar pod, looks much cleaner in the car.

Yeah - i really like the cobalt layout.
I don't much like the SOS bulging design. I wish there was just like an a-pillar replacement one that looks like what I have. That's what i thought it was. Plus they dont make those for my years

They don't make SOS for 94-98? That sucks. EDIT: I just checked and SOS does make them for your car.

i honestly havent been able to watch my fuel pressure or boost gauge on the pillar at all!

i'm scared to take my eyes off the road i did watch the boost gauge one time tonight. she hit 23 PSI in the 40* air tonight!

If your datalogging a/f and trans data yeah - otherwise no unless you see you're running really lean and need to get out of throttle or you see your trans is running hot and needs a good freeway drive to cool it off.

12 second 1/8th mile would be awesome Seriously, like 3 tracks here all 1/8ths (i hate Socal for that). Need to drive to Fontana which is 1hr40mins and being that far off i'm worried about breaking an axle and being SOL. First thing's first is a non pms'ing tune - the stall and built trans should help assuming i have traction. Either i go with 275 street tires and put down bad times or i go with ET streets and get a good time or break an axle.

get MT Drag Radials or BFG Drag Radials, no need for ET Streets....besides, an auto doesnt shock the drivetrain too hard to break an axle....

not to be a thread hijacker.....but i am thinking about getting a oil pressure and an A/F gauge for my 99 cobra (oil pressure for sure, due to the recent EXPENSIVE repair i am making due to an oil pump that blew up) and i just want to make sure that i need the electric model for my car.
