Some Newb Forced Induction Q's

First I was considering the Mongoose kit further down the road.. I wanted to go with whatever is safest for stock internals. Now this kit operates at 8-9psi which with a good tune is said to be "safe"..I was wondering how and intercooler would affect this setup...the cooler ait would produce more power but would that make it more stressful on the internals??

also on a side note how are twin turbos useful..I always thought dual turbos were to elmiinate turbo lag?

T&J hasnt lost an engine , just some info for ya , my vortech will be here tomorrow and im going to use their tune just long enough to drive it somewhere , might go ahead and make an appointment with Tim to do it , but if i cant get off work im going to take it somewhere closer to get it tuned .

also where can I get the mongoose kit cheaper than the 3900 form the modularpowerhouse site...ive heard pple gettin it for like 2900...

yeah

I heard you can go much higher then 9 PSI but you better tune is good..
as long as you take the car to a dyno and see the AF ratio and get it right your cool..

oh

for 3100 you can get the procharger.. it comes with an intercooler..
personaly I didnt get the cobra killer kit cuzz im scared of not getting a custom tune.. but that is just me..

I saw the vortech for 3195 at dallas mustang...is that with everything modularpowerhouse gives you?

ok

heres how it works..

the procharger kit for 3100 comes with everthing blower intercooler injectors chip pipes..

the vortech for 3000 comes with every but the intercooler.. the intercooler is over 1000 more or something like that..

I have worked with both blowers.. and the vortech kit is a lot better.. the but procharger is great for what you get.. but hard to install lots of piping for the front mount intercooler.. but it looks bad ass.. the vortech isnt as cool looking I think its water to air or something..

You can't eliminate turbo lag, because there will always be a certain amount of time required to get the turbo to spin up. Twin turbos were initially used because small turbos spin up faster than large turbos because they have less inertia to overcome, but they also produce less boost, hence the need for two. The safest blower setup will be the one that produces the least amount of power with no detonation. More power means more heat, more pressure and more stress on the engine which increases the likelihood of breaking something like a piston or rod. With a good tune and a little common sense on your part you can safely run just about any blower and have the satisfaction of lighting the tires up at will...

Thier intercooler sucks, for the procharger. Also, theres nothing wrong with Tim's tune, or the steeda tune for that matter, it lets your car take care of your air fuel for you depending on real time readings on the sensors. Thats safer than any dyno tune hack job with an add in chip. Several company's are now doing the samething. Fordchips was doing it a while back, SCT is doing it and so is cobra killer. Best way to tune a car and it can be tuned on the dyno, specifically for your car's needs. I watched him tune about 10 cars in a weekend. The base tune is just that. It'll get the job done.

Is the cobra killer kit supercharged or turbo?

supercharged....see thats all nice and swell for yo guys that live cose to CObra Killer's shop...Im wondering how many time I will have to send him my ecu through the mail...and how he can tune without the car physically there.

Also you have to run on 93 octance once supercharged...higher octane baically burns slower..so would a T/A set for delayed timing help / or let you use 91?

Yes he does offer the paxton A/A intercooler as an option. As far as the tune goes. Mine was dead on on the first try.

Tim uses a flashing software that is adaptive just like your factory Tune. However this one is flashed for better performance it learns what you car needs and gives it to it in a way that won't harm your engine. It may not be the most aggressive tune but it's pretty damn good for the soul fact you'll never have a problem with it. By some possibility if you do have a problem with it....trust me you won't get any better customer service anywhere else. Tim is the man to go to hands down not only is his products and kits top notch his service is some of the best their is.

ok so basically once I send him my ECU he flasshes it for my mods and the blower and Im good to go?

also I noticed on Tim's site the kit is ~3,800 now I have heard ppl gettin it for like 2,900 and I think Ive seen it on dallasmustang for 3100...is this the same kit? if yes would he tune it for me if I bought somewhere else?
